Talbot Campground -
4 miles NE
off French Meadows Rd.

center of the picture. You will see a
bare spot with 2 trees in it adjacent to
the road on the north. this is where the
hitching post is. Talbot Campground is
south of the road. the road basically
ends at talbot creek which serves a the
trailhead. |

Elevation 3,000'. 16 Units for equestrian and/or single
family use. Forest service park fee, water (not potable),
toilets. From Wentworth Springs Road, 5 miles east of
Georgetown, look for sign past Camp Virner, turn left on
Bypass Road, then 1 1/2 miles on paved road to the park. No
motorcycles. Equestrian Trails Nearby. Relatively easy
5, 10, 25, 50 mile trails. No reservations needed. |

- The entire Pacific Crest Trail is closed to all
types of vehicles, including bicycles. For more

Loon Lake Equestrian Group
Access to Desolation Wilderness. 5 Units. $35
Fee, 25 people, piped water, vault toilets, picnic tables.
Located on Loon Lake in the Crystal Basin, 30 miles north of
HWY 50 - use Ice House and Loon Lake Roads.
Reservations are required through the National Forest
Reservation Company from 05/24 through 09/10. |

Tell
Creek Horse Camp
Access to Desolation Wilderness, Equestrian camping
available. Narrow paved road, no water, no
toilets. Stream water. From HWY 50, 20
miles east of Placerville, take Ice House Road and travel
north 20 miles to Robbs Saddle, then turn right (East) on
Tells Creek Road (Road #13N22). It's six miles to the
parking area on the right. Corral is available. |

Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground
Access to
Desolation Wilderness. There's a campground, picnic
units and equestrian camping. No motor boats.
Equestrian camping is available in the horse meadow, - no
facilities and no fee or reservations. Reservations
are required at the family campground from 07/12 to 09/02
and may be made through the National Forest Reservation
Company. The campground is available on a first
come, first served basis before and after these dates.
Campground located 34 miles East of Placerville and 8 miles
North of HWY 50 on Wrights Lake Road, in the Crystal Basin. |
